Roderick Justice is an Tony-recognized Arts Educator, and award-winning director, choreographer, costume designer, playwright, actor, and Broadway producer (How to Dance in Ohio). A mentor to hundreds of young performers he is member of The Stage Directors & Choreographers Society who has been producing theatre-for-youth for nearly two decades.

In 2020, he was recognized one of Cincinnati’s 40 Under Forty. In 2021, he was named BroadwayWorld.com’s Arts Educator of the Decade. And in 2024, he was an Honorable Mention for the Excellence in Theatre Education Award, presented by Carnegie Mellon at the Tony Awards.

Roderick is Appalachian, originally hailing from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. While he has trained and worked over the US, Canada and Europe, he now proudly calls Cincinnati home.

Starting as a performer with The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati in 2006, the company welcomed him in 2008 as the first full-time Associate Artistic Director.  He became Program Director of The STAR Program, the highly-acclaimed musical theatre training program for young performers ages 9 to 18, and many of his STAR alums have gone on to great success on Broadway, TV, film, and behind the scenes.

Since his promotion to Artistic Director in 2015, he has commissioned and produced over 25 new musicals, plays, and world-premiere adaptations. Over the years, he has spearheaded many new TCT artistic and educational programs such as The Change Fund, the TCT Resident Artist Company,  STAR Red Bank, STAR Cabaret, and TCT's Script Development Division.

Roderick’s tenure has been driven by his passion for live theatre-for-youth, the impact the arts have on early childhood development, and harnessing the power of storytelling to change the world and cultivate the next generation.

He also works as a free-lance guest artist, designer, director, and choreographer for other arts organizations, including as his alma mater, Northern Kentucky University’s School of the Arts (SOTA), The School for the Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), the Commonwealth Theatre Company, The Carnegie, and The Lincoln Amphitheater in Lincoln City, Indiana to name a few.
